Braves to be without Probert for 2016 season.

The Bendigo Basketball Association (BBA) in conjunction with the Bendigo Braves Basketball Club (BBBC) and Bendigo Stadium Limited (BSL) announce that Kevin Probert will not be part of the Bendigo Bank Braves campaign in the 2016 South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) season.

This decision was made after consultation with all key stakeholders including Kevin and his family. The BBA, BBBC and BSL decided that Kevin was not in a position to be able to meet the requirements of a SEABL season and in conjunction with his mental health, will take six months absence of leave from the game.

Kevin Probert has been a regular member of the Braves Squad since the 2005 SEABL season, having played over 230 games for the club, including three conference championships, Golden Hands Award, Youth Australian Player of the Year and multiple club awards.

Bendigo Bank Braves Coach, Ben Harvey, now has the tough task of trying to manage a successful season without Kevin’s valued contribution.

The Braves will commence their first season in ten years without Kevin Probert on Friday 1st April, when they face off against the Ballarat Miners at the Minerdome. The Bendigo Bank Braves first home game is in Round 3 on Sunday 17 April against North West Tasmania.

I’m sure the Bendigo basketball community wish Kevin all the best in his endeavours during this time and are confident that he will make a successful return in the Bendigo Brave royal blue and yellow jersey in 2017.
