Roll The Dice: Be Active Perth Wheelcats

After a cracking regular season, we’re finally at the pointy end as we prepare for the 2014 NWBL Finals Series.

In the lead up, we’ll delve into the strengths of our final four and discuss what needs to go right for them to finish on top when they each roll the dice during the 2014 NWBL Finals Series.

Be Active Perth Wheelcats

Finished Regular Season: 1st

League Offensive Ranking: 1st (1,209 points scored)

League Defensive Ranking: 1st (852 points against)

The number one team throughout the regular season, the Be Active Perth Wheelcats have continued to lead the league at both ends of the floor in 2014 and in front of a home crowd will be the team to beat in the 2014 NWBL Finals Series.

Shaun Norris and Justin Eveson have been bordering on unstoppable with the ball in their hands and sit ranked first and second for points per game in 2014. Eveson also leads the league in rebounds while Norris leads the league in assists.

Having a career best year is Kim Robins who ranks in the top ten scorers in the league with an average of 15.7 per game. Robins is Perth’s X factor and could the key to a Wheelcats championship in 2014.

Teams will focus their defence around trying to shut down Norris and Eveson but if Kim Robins can average anywhere over 15 points per game during finals, the Wheelcats will be right in the hunt on Sunday afternoon.

How can they be beaten? Good question, and it’s a questions teams have been asking for a number of years but teams should start by trying to limit the number of second chance points from the Wheelcats. Currently Norris, Eveson and Robins sit in the top three positions for total number of offensive rebounds this season.
