ROUND 7 PREVIEW

RSL Queensland Spinning Bullets v Sydney Metro Blues- Brisbane Entertainment Centre
5.00pm Saturday 28th May and
11.00am Sunday 29th May

Sitting six points behind Red Dust on the ladder, the Spinning Bullets can move equal with the Heelers with two victories but head-to-head results mean that finals are now out of reach while Sydney will be desperate to record a win with time in the regular season running out.

Snapping a six-game losing streak with a win over Wollongong, Queensland are carrying some good form into this contest but the Blues were unable to end their own losing streak last weekend, falling to Kilsyth in two big losses as they averaged just 39 points.

They also had one of their least productive games at the offensive end when they met the Spinning Bullets in the Cluster Round, scoring just 35 which is an area that they will need to address immediately.

At the other end of the floor, Tom O’Neill-Thorne is one player they will need to contain after he collected 31 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in that last meeting while Matt McShane helped spread the floor with nine points and six assists.

With only pride to play for, the playing field may be more evenly matched but on the road, the Blues will have to perform at their best to grab an elusive win.

Wollongong Roller Hawks v Kilsyth Cobras- Shellharbour City Stadium
5.00pm Saturday 28th May and
12.00pm Sunday 29th May

There is still a lot to play for when these teams meet this weekend, with Wollongong able to move into third spot on the ladder while Kilsyth need at least one win to regain top spot.

The Cobras proved far too good for Sydney last round, cracking the century mark while winning by an average margin of 60 points.

The Roller Hawks were only able to split their round against the Spinning Bullets but the second victory proved very important as it secured a playoff spot for them.

They will also take confidence into this clash as they beat Kilsyth in Round 1 by a point. Despite attempting 14 less field goals, Wollongong nailed two more three-pointers while shooting 54% from the field.

Brett Stibners (16 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists) countered Tristan Knowles’ 18 points, eight boards and eight assists but it was the performance of bench players Andrew Tarrant and Brad Fisher who combined for 15 points that proved the difference.

If those role players can hit the scoreboard in a similar fashion this round, Wollongong may be able to sneak a game against the defending champions but with top spot to play for, Kilsyth should prove too strong on the road.
