Star performers:

It’s hard to look much past big man Justin Eveson who having a dominant season, leading the league in points per game (26), rebounds per game (11.4) and assists per game (7.2), at an average of approximately 27 minutes per game.

Fellow big man Robbie Pike who is often overlooked by opposition teams just continues to get the job done averaging 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game, coming off the Wheelcats bench. Efficiency has been the key to Pike’s game in 2013 who has put up those number shooting at 62% while averaging just 19 minutes of court time per game.

Andrew Liddawi doesn’t hit the scoresheet as often as the big power forwards but has played much bigger minutes this season and continues to develop as a quality low pointer.

Report Card:

There is only one way to describe the way the Wheelcats have played their basketball in 2013: Ruthless. The Undefeated Wheelcats have scored more than 200 more points than second placed Wollongong and at the same time, conceded 200 less points than their closest rivals.

The Wheelcats almost boast the complete starting five of the Rollers but they’ve only managed to hit the court together once so far in 2013 (Round 1 v Wollongong). The depth off their bench is second to none in the NWBL and is the reason they have been able to continue to win games while not being at full strength.

Having said all that, the Wheelcats can ill afford to become complacent in their run home. The Rollerhawks saved their best basketball until finals in 2011 and 2012 and are building nicely towards another Championship effort in 2013 while the Spinning Bullets have announced their arrival as legitimate NWBL contenders.
