Our Under 14-1 girls are competing at the U14 Girls Club Championships in Brisbane this week and we will be following all the action each day.

Coming of their fabulous win to claim the Victorian Junior Championship title a couple of weeks ago, the girls are ready for a crack at the national title, but it's a long week and everything has to go right.

It's a great achievement even to qualify for Nationals, so well done to the girls. We'll be following all the games and results during the week will be updated in this article. Go Boomers !

1st Pool Round

A fabulous start by the girls on Monday, with two solid wins to kick off their tournament. The Boomers were just too strong for Manly Waringah (NSW) and Perry Lakes (WA) so are well positioned to advance to the Championship half of the draw. There is one more pool game on Tuesday before the second pool round commenced on Wednesday.

Another solid win by the girls in their final pool game, jumping out to an early lead and consolidating through the second half. That's a solid 3 from 3 for the Boomers in the pool round, but now the more serious action starts - in the second round the girls come up against the West Adelaide Bearcats and the Brisbane Capitals for a place in the Championship Quarter finals.

2nd Pool Round - Wed 1st/Thur 2nd October

First up game in the second pool round and another very big win by the Boomers. The girls now have one final second round pool game on Thursday to determine seedings for the Championship quarter finals on Thurday evening - big day tomorrow, Go Boomers !

Final pool game and the girls did this one in a bit of a canter - but you still have to play hard every game and the Boomers did just that to qualify directly into the Championship quarter finals on Thursday evening. A bit of a shock in another pool at VC Grand Final opponent the Dandenong Rangers lost both round 2 games to drop into the classification finals.

Championship Finals: Thur 2nd - Sat 4th October

Into the last eight and every game is going to be tough as this one showed. The girls led narrowly for much of the game and had extended their lead to 7 going into the last minute. Forestville had to keep fouling to stop the clock and the Boomers iced the game from the line. A big semi final coming up tomorrow for a spot in the Gold Medal game on Saturday.

It was a tight and tough low scoring semi final as unfortunately the Boomers went down narrowly in the quest to book a spot in the last game of the Championships. It seemed there was glad wrap on the rings as this one was all tied up 15 - 15 at half time, and again 23 - 23 at the last change. Half way through the final period Norths just managed to find a couple of key baskets and the girls just could not get back in the last few minutes. A worthy semi final of the tournament, but the girls have to regroup for another big game tomorrow for the Bronze Medal. Go Boomers !

Sat 4 Oct Bronze Medal Game Bulleen Boomers 71 def Newcastle Hunters 32

A big finish to the tournament as the Boomers emphatically claimed the Bronze medal against the Newcastle Hunters. After disappointment in the semis, the girls bounced back in the best way possible to claim the Bronze and finish on a high. Congratulations to the girls and their coaches, a great finish to a massive season.
