Big V Weekly Wrap Round 13

Big V 300

A relatively quiet weekend in Big V Round 13, as our Youth Women had the weekend off and other teams all had a single game. Wins for our Youth Men and Champ Women, while our Champ Men found Corio Bay a little too strong.

Here's the weekly wrap.

Youth Championship Men

Our Youth Men were desperate to get back on the winners list and managed to do enough to hold out Frankston 96 - 85. Not completely convincing, but sometimes you need that win to get back on track.

Harry Fayle had a huge game at point with 26 points and 8 boards, while Jordy Little also had a big game with 21 points and 14 boards. Solakidis and Kruger chipped in with 17 and 16 points respectively.

The boys now need to string some solid wins together over the next few weeks.

State Championship Women

With our Youth Women not playing and our Champ Women missing a few, there was room for a few of the Youth girls to step up and and play Champ against the Eltham Wildcats.

And the youngsters looked right as home as the Boomers were solid in defeating arch rival the Eltham Wildcats 82 - 67.

Young gun Emma Pearce looked right at home to lead the Boomers with 23 points - what an amazing effort. Amelia Smith managed 13 points and Gabby Tarabolsi chipped in with 11. A solid team performance for the girls to open a big gap over Eltham in holding down the last finals spot on the table.

State Championship Men

Our Champ Men tried hard against a strong Corio Bay outfit but could not quite get it down, going down 79 - 94 to the Stingrays.

KGG had his best game of the season with 32 points and 7 boards, while Derrick McDonald relished more court time with 19 points. The Boomers are just still hanging on to the last finals spot on the ladder.

A men's double this Saturday night 27th June at EDSC as our Youth Men take on Sandringham at 6pm, while our Champ Men host Werribee at 8pm. Big game on Sunday for our Youth Women against close rival Nunawading with tipoff at 1pm.
