THE FUTURE

The start of the new directional future of the Brisbane Spartans was announced last night by the Board of Southern Districts Basketball Association.
 
In creation of a three year strategy, to ensure by 2020, that only juniors who have risen through the ranks represent the club at senior level the introduction of under 21 teams for the BQJBC competition are to commence.
 
Ongoing from this, future SBL teams will have an under 23 restriction with an exception rule of two older players per team.
 
General Manager, Peter Philip offered “While we may not achieve what we are trying to do, we will have set the foundations for our future.”
 
“It is our desire to encourage and develop the very best program we can with, always, the next generation in mind. Southern Districts has a proud history of success when using home grown talent and we want ensure this continues in the future”.
 
Southern Districts are also proud to announce the employment of Kevin McGrath as the new Development Manager. Kevin, a former junior representative player and coach is currently overseeing the administration and will move to junior development over the next 6 months, when additional staff will be recruited.
