2015 QBL Head Coaches

Townsville Basketball Incorporated is pleased to announce the reinstatement of Assistant Coach of the Townsville S&P Crocodiles  Mike Kelly as the QSolutions Heat’s head coach  for the 2015  Queensland Basketball League Season.  Last year was the first year for Mike as Head Coach of the Heat team. Finishing ninth on the ladder with a very young team, Mike will be keen to improve this in the upcoming season. Last season Mike had his team playing with extreme confidence and physicality at both ends of the floor. Crocs players Mitch Norton and Mirko Djeric both proved themselves as leaders of a very young group of Townsville athletes.

We are also pleased to announce Decorated Townsville Coach Mark Wrobel as the Head Coach of the Dennis’s Computer Flames for the 2015 Queensland Basketball League season.  Mark has coached the Townsville Flames in the Queensland Basketball League for several years and boasts a decorated resume. Mark was named the QBL Women’s Coach of the Year 2013 at the Basketball Queensland Awards evening. Mark has a busy season ahead of him in his new role as Assistant Coach to The Townsville JCU Fire WNBL Team. This will be Mark’s first year with the Townsville Fire and will further his experience in coaching with this appointment. The Flames also finished nine on the ladder last season with a very young group of players.

Townsville Basketball Management Committee are very pleased that both Mike and Mark have accepted these positions for the 2015 season.  Last year we saw the largest home crowds in quite a few years and we are looking forward to a very exciting QBL Season for both teams.
