BRADY BACK ON DECK FOR FLAMES

BRADY BACK ON DECK FOR FLAMES

Townsville Basketball is pleased to announce Brady Walmsley has been re-appointed for his second season as the head of our QBL Women’s program and will lead the Dennis’ Computers Flames into battle again in 2016.

Following on from a highly successful first season as head coach at the QBL level, where he lead the Flames to a 12-5 record and if not for a flawed finals system in the QBL would also added a QBL finals appearance to his resume.  Walmsley hoped to continue to build his young team into a championship contender in 2016 by fostering the development of talented Townsville juniors.

“2015 was a great opportunity for so many former Townsville juniors to step up to the plate and show that they belong in the QBL and can contribute at this level. Ainsley Walsh and Caity Biondi-Howarth are two prime examples of players who have come right through the Townsville junior system and are now ready to be major contributors in 2016” Walsmsley offered.

Townsville Basketball QBL Program Manager Greg Vanderjagt endorsed the re-appointment of Walmsley, noting his success at the junior level in QLD State Programs has translated into the senior programs.

“Brady has demonstrated an ability over a number of years now at the junior level to but players in a position to be successful, his transition to the QBL level last season was so smooth and I know how much the Flames girls enjoyed the freedom he gave them on the floor.

“Brady has a unique ability to communicate on a high level with players and is an excellent teacher of the concepts he trusts and believes in, we are so excited to have him lead the Denni’s Computers Flames again in 2016”.

Pre-season training for the Flames is already underway with players battling for positions in the teams final roster for 2016. Player signings will be announced in the very near future!

The Flames are set to open the season in a home blockbuster against north conference rivals the Cairns Dolphins on Sunday 1st May, 2016.
