AMERICAN import Chelsie Schweers deserves praise for being named Queensland Basketball League player of the week.

The Ipswich Force player's dominant display against South West Metro featured a massive 51 point haul, including nine three-pointers and 12 from 12 from the free throw line.

This is the first time this season a player in either of the Ipswich Force men's or women's league has surpassed the half century.

It is also the second week in a row that a Force player has been awarded the POW.

Bree Farley received the honour last week for her fantastic stat line of 27 points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in Ipswich's win against Rockhampton.

James Legan also received the honour in Round 1 this season.
