Mitch Philp - QBL Player of the Week: Round 7

The Rockets took control early after taking the lead within the first minute of the match, and never conceded their advantage for the rest of the game. Philp helped to set up his team-mates on a number of occasions to ensure the comfortable win over the Rollers, with the guard also pulling down two rebounds and taking three steals. Philp has been consistent in recent weeks for the Rockets, shooting 29 points and 12 assists against Ipswich in Round 6, and 20 points and eight assists in Round 5 against Gladstone.

It’s the 22 year old’s fifth season with the Rockets, with the Rockhampton-native currently sitting above his 2011 points per game average of 12.2, this season averaging 19.2 points and eight-point-five assists per game to date. He holds a QBL Championship with the Rockets for the 2010 season, where he averaged 14.6 points per game at 40.6 percent in the field and 81.7 at the foul-line in 17 matches. Philp also picked up two matches with the Cairns Taipans in the 2011-2012 NBL season.
