NBL star Stephen Weigh is returning to Rockhampton
The Rockhampton Rockets are excited to announce that NBL star Stephen Weigh is returning to Rockhampton to play for the Rockets in their 2013 QBL campaign.
“With Stephen’s NBL commitments there isn’t always an opportunity for him to return home and play for the Rockets once again. To say that we are delighted to have Rockhampton Basketball’s greatest product returning is an understatement. He brings so much to the program not only for his skills on the floor but his strength of character of the court.”
As a junior Stevie won a State and National Title whilst attending the Australian Institute of Sport which resulted in a scholarship in the USA college system the Utah Utes. An opportunity to join the NBL with the Perth Wildcats was his next step in his career. Stevie rejoined the Rockets in 2008 where he became an integral member of the team that went on to claim the State and National Title. He was again with the Rockets in 2011 which went all the way to the Grand Final.
Rockets Coach Neal Tweedy stated, “Stevie is the hardest working player I have seen and I look forward to him returning to the Rockets again this season. It is very pleasing to have such a quality local player being available to play for us – great person, great player and it’s great to have him back”.
Weigh is taking a short break after the NBL and will arrive later in the month ready for the big game at Hegvold against Mackay on 27th April.
