Donatelife Week - Wear PINK!
The McDonalds Rockets and Frenchville Sports Club Cyclones will be supporting Donatelife Week 2015 at Saturday’s game against Cairns.
We invite you to show your support for organ and tissue donation this week by wearing PINK!!
Donatelife Week provides the trigger for all Australians to “have the chat that saves lives”.
Did you know……
- One organ and tissue donor can transform the lives of 10 or more people.
- Organ Donation is medically possible in less than 1% of deaths. You must pass away in an Emergency Department or Intensive Care on a ventilator to be an organ donor. There are fewer restrictions with tissue donation.
- Last year in Australia 1, 117 Australians received an organ transplant through the generosity of 378 organ donors.
- There are around 1,700 people on the transplant waiting list at any one time.
- Your donation wishes are no longer documented on your licence.
There will be information on hand at this week’s game, so come armed with any questions you may have.
