2015 BIG V COACHING ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Hume City Broncos have finalised their coaching line-ups for 2015, ensuring the Club’s continued competitiveness in the tough Big V State Championships environment.

With Championship winning Coach Warren Taylor advising the Club of his inability to continue in the Head Coach role for the Lady Broncos due to family and work commitments, the Club moved quickly to snare former Opal, WNBL and Big V standout Katrina Hibbert to take the reins. Katrina will have Warren’s assistance over the course of the season.

Glen Milner will again steer the Club’s development team, with Sally Braybon being added to the Assistant ranks. Sally served as Warren’s assistant this year.

On the mens side, Lanard Copeland commences his second season in charge of the State Championships Team, with Mark Addison moving from his development coaching role to be an Assistant Coach to Lanard.

The Club’s development team will be led by newly appointed Steve Paslawskyj. Steve has enjoyed a successful career in the Club’s junior representative program for many years and is a keen student of the game with a strong teaching emphasis.

In announcing these appointments, Club President Peter Jackson confirmed the positive impetus that Broadmeadows and Hume City basketball has enjoyed since endorsing its current Strategic Plan some 18 months ago.

“There are exciting changes happening on our regional basketball landscape, driven by a commitment to excellence which starts at our Committee of Management level and translates into several recent staffing appointments. That we have now settled our elite level coaching structures with well credentialled people who are all working to the objectives of development and success is further testament of this focus” he said. “Mark’s continued involvement in the program enables important information sharing with Steve, as Steve adds his own value and approach to our development effort, while Lanard’s leadership continues to be vital in re-establishing the Broncos as a force to be reckoned with at the State Championships level.

The development plans we have implemented have enabled our Lady Broncos to re-write the Big V history books, with six Grand Final appearances since 2007, resulting in five State Championships, including a back to back and a three-peat, as well as being Runners Up in the Australian Club Championships. To have someone of the calibre of Katrina Hibbert, who has been a key part of those Championships and is familiar with our strong Club culture, agree to lead the team next year, is fantastic, not only for us, but for the Big V. We’re chuffed: bring on 2015!”
