The Committee of Management is pleased to welcome Craig Campbell as the new Operations Manager of the Association.

Following a competitive selection process for the advertised role, Craig emerged as the successful candidate based on a relevant work history, including roles as Project Officer at Sport & Recreation Victoria and Basketball Development Manager, Basketball Stadium Manager, Basketball Operations Officer, Sport Coordinator, Director of Coaching and General Manager at a range of Basketball Associations and Basketball NT. What also worked in Craig’s favour was his understanding of the regional context in which Broadmeadows Basketball is seeking to grow its impact.

Craig commences in this full time Operations Manager role on 1 September and will have as his immediate priority the establishment of an effective working relationship with the Association’s Junior Domestic Clubs.

Craig’s appointment follows the recent formalising of Wayne Bird’s role as part time Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Association. Wayne’s previous background as CEO of Basketball Victoria and General Manager of Basketball Stadiums Victoria will add depth to the Association’s ability to drive the key objectives and deliverables of its Strategic Plan.

Rounding off these recruitments is the addition of Michael Nancarrow in the role of Referees Adviser. Michael also commences duties on 1 September, and he will ensure that the Association’s refereeing standards and development compliments the junior and senior competition programs that are expanding. Michael is a former Broadmeadows referee product who worked his way through the domestic scene to the State Panel.

In announcing these appointments, BBA President Peter Jackson said “The Association is continuing to build a talented staffing complement that has the capacity and capability to deliver positive community outcomes through innovative and inclusive basketball programs. We look forward to Wayne, Craig and Michael working closely with our existing staff and wide range of stakeholders to put our customers at the forefront of our considerations. The BBA brand is well known and respected through the region and beyond, and we are determined to engage across the diverse community which we are part of to contribute services and programs that are relevant to the needs of our constituent base.”
