Winter 2015 Grand Finals

Access and Parking Restrictions

We are this year again faced with access and parking restrictions to The Rex due to the running of the 2015 Barossa Duathlon being held on the same day. We have been working with the Duathlon organisers ant The Rex management to try to find a better solution than what we had for the Winter 2014 Grand Finals.  To this extent we have scheduled our finals to start an hour later at 11:00 am and the Duathlon has adopted a slightly different route that avoids road closures on Menge Road.

Due to the Duathlon there will be a number of road closures in the vicinity of the Rex starting from 05:30 am on Sunday morning (see attached Public Notice from today’s local newspapers) and the Rex carpark is being used as a staging area.  The format of the Duathlon has a 5km run as the last leg which may result in runners on Magnolia road in the vicinity of The Rex carpark.  Marshalls will be stationed on Magnolia road to direct The Rex users to the assigned spots for crossing Magnolia road.  The latest estimate is that everything should be finalised and normal access should again be available from about 12:30pm.

Could you please advise your teams and their supporters that alternative parking has been arranged at the child care centre across the road from the Rex, access is off Menge Road (see attached map provided by The Rex).  The Duathlon competitors have been advised to use Faith’s carpark which can only be accessed from Basedow Road on Sunday morning.  Further information on the Barossa Duathlon can be found at http://www.barossaduathlon.com.au/

If your are heading to The Rex (before midday) please allow extra time as there will be additional congestion in the vicinity of The Rex.

We have been assured by the Duathlon organisers that this will be the last year that the duathlon will clash with our Grand Finals as the national triathlon calendar is being changed in 2016.

 Balls on Courts

At this Sunday’s grand finals the referees will be charged with ensuring that Courts 1 and 2 are only available to players, coaches and officials.  Courts are to be available for the teams and coaches use ONLY during all breaks in play and between games and any other persons moving onto the courts to ‘shoot hoops’ etc will be asked to leave the court area.

Presentations

As per previous grand finals team trophy presentations will be immediately following completion of the game.  With the tight turnaround between games, and a number of players involved in more than 1 grand final, please ensure that the coaches and teams move promptly to Court 3 where the presentations will be held.  Following the presentation of trophies could each team, and the MVPs, remain on court 3 until the team photo has been taken.
