Kickz101 Perth SBL Players of the Week

The week seven “Kickz101 Perth” Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Seb Salinas of the Joondalup Wolves.

The Joondalup Wolves were without star point guard Trian Iliadis on Sunday when they took on the East Perth Eagles at Joondalup Basketball Stadium. With Iliadis missing, shooting guard Seb Salinas stepped up in his absence with a triple double performance for the Wolves recording 26 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Wolfpack to a ten point victory over the Eagles, 99 to 89.  

Salinas and Iliadis have formed a formidable backcourt for the Wolves averaging 46.5 points between them so far this season. With Iliadis recovering from a knee injury, Wolves fans will be hoping Salinas can continue his solid form as they look to go one better than 2013 and take out the MSBL Championship.

The week seven “Kickz101 Perth” Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Samantha Whitcomb of the Orange Autos Rockingham Flames.

Samantha Whitcomb continues to star in the WSBL with her second consecutive player of the week award and third for the season.

The 2013 WSBL MVP was outstanding again over the weekend as the Orange Autos Rockingham Flames faced a tough double header against Lakeside and South West.

On Thursday night the Flames travelled down to Eaton Recreation Centre to take on the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers. Rockingham came away victorious with Whitcomb recording 26 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals and 1 block amazingly in just 21 minutes of basketball.

On Sunday the Flames welcomed the Lakeside Lightning to Mike Barnett Sports Complex in a battle of the last two undefeated teams in the WSBL for 2014. Whitcomb was again dominant for the Flames to record 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists as they went on to defeat the Lightning 76 to 61.

The Flames now sit clear on top of the WSBL ladder with nine straight wins and are undeniably the red hot favourites to take out the 2014 WSBL Championship.
