Kickz101 Perth SBL Players of the Week

The week four “Kickz101 Perth” Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Kari Pickens of the Lakeside Lightning.

Lakeside have been in spectacular form during the first four weeks of the season and currently sit second on the WSBL ladder as one of only two teams who remain undefeated.

Newly recruited import Kari Pickens put up huge numbers in the Lightning’s clash with the Eagles on Sunday at the Lakeside Recreation Centre with 23 points, 20 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a block to lead her team to a twenty-nine point victory, 96 to 67.

Pickens has been pivotal in the Lightning’s current three game winning streak, averaging 19.3 points per game and shooting at 46% from three point land.

Arguably the best defensive player in the league, Chelsea Burns of the Joondalup Wolves was unlucky to miss out on this week’s award after an outstanding performance over the weekend filling the stats sheet with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 7 steals and 4 blocks to lead her team to a sixty-four point hammering of the Perth Redbacks, 100-36.

Stephanie Jones (East Perth): (27 points, 8 rebounds) & (30 points, 15 rebounds), Casey Mihovilovich (Mandurah): (19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists), Robin Tobin (Perry Lakes): (17 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists), Samantha Richards (Cockburn): (22 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assist), Emma Pass (23 points, 7 rebounds) & Ebony Antonio (14 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists), Amber Land (Stirling): (9 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists) & Antonia Edmondson (Willetton): (23 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists).

 

The week four “Kickz101 Perth” Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Kyle Armour of the Vorian Agency East Perth Eagles.

Armour was simply outstanding over the weekend to record a massive 86 points in just two games.

It was a high scoring affair on Saturday night at the Morley Recreation Centre where the Vorian Agency East Perth Eagles defeated the Mandurah Magic 148-118.

Armour was incredible for the home side, knocking down 7 of 10 from beyond the arc and 12 of 12 from the charity stripe to record a game high 43 points to go with 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.

The undermanned Eagles then travelled to Lakeside on Sunday to face a fresh top of the table Lightning outfit. Armour was again exceptional for the Eagles with another game high 43 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals, however it wasn’t enough as Lakeside were victorious 104-113.

Unlucky to miss out on this week’s award was Jarrad Prue of the Lakeside Lightning who recorded an astonishing 31 rebounds in Sunday’s win against the East Perth Eagles. Prue also went 10 of 10 from the field to add 21 points, 6 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks to his impressive stats sheet.
