Kickz101 Perth SBL Players of the Week

The week five “Kickz101 Perth” Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Jarrad Prue of the Lakeside Lightning

On Saturday night the Lightning took on the Perry Lakes Hawks at the WA Basketball Centre. Prue recorded 20 points and 21 rebounds in a tightly contested game with the Hawks coming out on top 105 to 111.

The Lightning had a quick turn around and faced the Kalamunda Eastern Suns at the Lakeside Recreation Centre on Sunday afternoon. Prue again was outstanding for the home side to record 21 points and 29 rebounds as the Lightning were victorious 112 to 89.

The rebounding statistics of Lakeside Lightning’s star player Jarrad Prue are extraordinary. Prue now averages 25.8 rebounds per game, twelve clear of his nearest rival Taylor Mullenax who averages 13.2 rebounds per game.

Prue, listed at 198cm, is far from the leagues tallest player, however he has managed to turn his rebounding skills and timing into an art form which makes him one of the most valuable players in the State Basketball League.

The week five “Kickz101 Perth” Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Darcee Garbin of the Rockingham Flames.

Rockingham head coach Ryan Petrik has his players firing on all cylinders and at the end of week five the Flames currently sit top of the WSBL ladder undefeated with five straight wins.

Flames star Darcee Garbin has been in excellent form in the early part of the season, coming off a solid year with the West Coast Waves in the WNBL.

Garbin was unstoppable in Friday night’s clash with the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers at Mike Barnett Stadium recording 28 points and 20 rebounds to lead her team to victory 82 – 65.
