Hawks add “Big Man” Brian Carlwell to their 2016 Men’s Team

The Perry Lakes Men’s Hawks today announced the signing of League stalwart and big man, Brian Carlwell. Brian brings to the Club a wealth of experience and a determined disposition to reinject himself into the league in the 2016 season. Brian took time away from the league to focus on starting a new family and it is this new commitment which has played a massive part in his desire to be part of the Hawks squad.

When asked why he wanted to revive his SBL career, Brian was unequivocal; “For my daughter. I just want to play for her so she can see if you work hard you can do anything you want. I am excited and ready to get the season underway and I feel like I have a lot to prove, to myself and to other people and I am ready to win another championship. It’s always championship or bust for me.”

Brian has enjoyed the ultimate success within the league, playing a pivotal role in the Cockburn Cougars 2012 Championship. Head Coach Charles Nix is hoping some of that championship pedigree can rub off on his young squad; “We are excited to have Brian on board, he is a proven winner at all levels and we feel that he can really come in and impact. He brings us legitimate size and the experience to lead the other guys.”

The signing of Brian for the 2016 season comes off the back of an exhaustive global search by the Hawks who are looking to improve on their strong finish in 2015. Club captain Ben Purser has been impressed with what he’s seen from the big man so far this preseason; “Brian has not missed a beat since he came in and has adjusted well to our up-tempo brand of basketball. He has such a vibrant personality and I think he will be a great addition for us both on and off the court.”

Perry Lakes Hawks welcome Brian to our Club.
