TALLYGAROOPNA v MERRIGUM
Merrigum faces a big task to remain in the race to claim the A grade title.
The Bulldogs have played well throughout the season to claim their spot in the top six, but none of their wins have come against a team above them on the ladder.
Teresa Burgoss has done an excellent job to get her team to the finals, but now a new season commences.
Their best against a team above them come a month ago when beaten by nine goals against the minor premier.
The only meeting between these teams came very early in the season and Tallygaroopna won by 53 goals.
Tallygaroopna has shot 1079 goals and only conceded 459 goals.
On the other, Merrigum has shot only 716 and allowed the opposition 673.
Tallygaroopna to advance to week two of the finals
LANCASTER v STANHOPE
Stanhope has come good late in the season, even against teams above it on the ladder.
It may not have beaten any of the teams above it on the ladder, but it was able to close the margins in their losses.
The Lions won all their games against teams below them on the ladder, with the exception of the draw with Violet Town.
The only meeting with the Wombats was back in July and they were well beaten.
However, since the return of some key players, the Lions have been building towards the finals.
The challenge will be to restrict Lancaster to a losing score.
That won’t be easy given they have shot 1164 goals.
Breaking down the strong defensive unit of Lancaster won’t be easy either, with the reigning premier only conceding 567 goals.
Stanhope hasn’t been a high scoring team this year and it has conceded some big scores in those six losses to teams above them.
For me, Lancaster is playing a little better and it will advance to week two of the finals.
My tips: Tallygaroopna and Lancaster.
