The Kyabram District Football Netball League is delighted to have secured the services of Murchison Coach Brent Chapman as its interleague football coach for 2016.
The second year Grasshopper takes the reins from Merrigum premiership coach Christian Barnett, who has stepped down for family reasons.
KDFNL President Wayne Ryan welcomed Chapman to the role whilst thanking Barnett for his contribution.
"Christian did a fantastic job in restoring the League's reputation last year when he led a reinvigorated program resulting in a comprehensive win against Mininera at Deakin Reserve" he said.
"Brent is a great addition to the program has plenty of experience coaching at interleague level and has a real passion for representative football."
"Barney and Nagambie’s Linc Sullivan have also put their hands up to assist and we are excited at what this leadership group brings to the table as we look to continue to climb the AFL Victoria rankings ladder."
Ryan also announced that the football and netball interleague contest on Saturday 21 May against Golden Rivers will feature two football and three netball matches and will be played at Tallygaroopna.
"We are thrilled that the Golden Rivers Football League will be bringing an Under 18 team to compete this season after we missed out on a game last year" he said.
"Dean Wileman from Stanhope has accepted the role of coach and will be a great mentor to our League’s talented youngsters."
"Julie Telford has been re-appointed as the open netball coach and will again be a great asset with her extensive playing and coaching experience."
"Lancaster’s Rod O’Neill will take over the reigns of the 17 and Under side from Chelsea Nicholson who has given several years of excellent service to interleague."
"We are also in the final throes of confirming a 15 and Under netball game and hope to be able to make a positive announcement in the coming weeks."
