The use of electronic media has become a great way of getting the GOTAFE GVFL story out and about whether in Victoria, Australia or overseas. There are a lot of supporters who cannot get to the game and have taken advantage of technology to follow games. There has been some terrific feedback and further developments are planned.
The League website is our key communication tool. As many would know this has not changed much in recent years and is badly in need of an upgrade. Despite this, in 2015 the site attracted 2,038,243 hits, an increase of 30% over the previous year. In Australia’s top 50 football leagues this was the 4th highest increase. That is great for our supporters but also assists in the marketing of our great competition to our sponsors.
The good news is that the site about to get a whole lot better. The Board has signed off on a redesigned site more in keeping with some of the major leagues and we are excited that this will be available in the next couple of weeks. This will create even more opportunities for interacting with the League.
So keep an eye out and make sure you have a look.
Livestreaming of games has been another winner with 5,500 hits on the Echuca Shepparton game and 3,500 for the Euroa Seymour match. We have had a number of clubs interested in having more of their games streamed and it would be really helpful if these broadcasts had a sponsor who could benefit from advertising throughout the game. It is not expensive and if there is anyone out there interested in helping a Club, contact Simon Devine or Board member David Fox.
Following games on your phone or the website through live scoring keeps you up to date. From last weekend two locations where games were followed were the bowls at Griffith and the races in Adelaide – the only drama is if it is a close game and you are not there it gets pretty tense – example the Mansfield Swans game two weeks ago.
On Twitter the League now has 2,385 followers as well as a significant number of Facebook friends
One FM continues to provide a high quality product with panel discussion, interviews and calling of games. The deal is that all clubs will get a home game broadcast in the first part of the season and then decisions will be made about game of the round.
We are really excited by the future that these sorts of technologies will provide for our many supporters both at home and abroad and look forward to rolling out more improvements.
Good luck to all clubs today before the well-earned Interleague break and if you get a chance jump onto the GOTAFE GVFL website after 1.00pm and have a glimpse of this week’s live streamed vision with the Grand Final Replay as Kyabram take on the reigning champions Benalla at Kyabram Recreation Reserve, Kyabram.
