Sporting clubs, leagues and associations across the nation will ‘pink up’ for Breast
Cancer Network Australia (BCNA)’s sixth annual Pink Sports Day over Mother’s Day
weekend, 10-11 May 2014.
Like previous years a number of clubs will mark the day in various ways with Ladies
luncheons and by wearing pink on the day, meaning that all three leagues will be
represented in a strong show of support. Funds raised from all clubs should go directly to BCNA to support its work in ensuring women diagnosed with breast cancer, and their families, are provided with the very best information, and support possible, no matter who they are or where they live.
Other ways to promote your event
Your local newspaper isn’t the only way to promote your event. Have a think about
other ways you can promote your event within your club, league and local community.
Suggestions include:
• Promote your Pink Sports Day event via your club or league’s Facebook page
• Promote your event via other social media channels
• Encourage club members and players to promote the event via their social
media channels as well
• If you have a club or league website, publish a short article about the event
• If you have a club or league newsletter (either printed or via email), publish a
brief article promoting your event
• Send an email to all your club members or players about Pink Sports Day
• Contact your local newspaper or radio station to see if they have a ‘What’s
On’ section where you could list your event
• Explore online events calendars and list your event – many councils and
newspapers have free events listings
• Ask local businesses to put up a Pink Sports Day poster in their window or on
their noticeboard to promote your event – you could even ask them to include a
mention about your event in their newsletters or other communications that they
send
BCNA is happy to provide you with suggested social media content or
newsletter/website articles.
