Voice and Dunk Machine Entertain Youth of Darwin
The Hoops 4 Health (H4H) Halloween Challenge was held last night in conjuction with the Malak Re-Engagement Centre (MRC), Northern Territory Education.
The students from MRC assisted in running the event. Over 250 people participated and joined in the array of activites.
The MRC is a service for disengaged youth - providing programs varying from music, literacy and numeracy, fitness, living skills and art, and assists young people to enter/re-enter education, training and employment.
The event incorporated the NT wellbeing services linked in with the H4H Aboriginal Corporation and the MRC to provide health checks, general health information and promote healthy lifestyles.
Entertainer and MC ‘Rodney O’ Overby (pictured with the Education Minister) along with the ‘Dunk Machine’ and former NBL player Deba George, facilitated 3 on 3 competitions with students and community members from all over. Rodney O also had an opportunity to meet with Minister for Education Peter Chandler and Education CEO Ken Davies to discuss the important role the MRC provides to the Darwin community.
The City of Darwin also showcased their Smoothie Bikes. The event conluded with a circus show with an awesome fire and whip display.
