Sydney Metro Blues v Sydney Uni Flames

A cross-town rivalry kicks off Round 2 as the Blues and Flames face each other for the second consecutive game.

When they met in Round 1, the Blues were 14-point victors as they forced 29 turnovers. Annabelle Lindsay top-scored for the Flames with 18 points but they will be hard-pressed to again stop the Blues’ array of scorers after Kylie Gauci’s 16 points led four Blues players in double-figures.

 

Minecraft Qld Comets v Be Active Western Stars

This will be an early test for Queensland in a bottom vs. top clash, especially after they fell to the Stars by 36 points in their last meeting.

Mari Amimoto will need help on the boards as she battles Amber Merritt who had 29 points and 20 rebounds in that Round 1 game but the Comets will expect a better shooting night from Georgia Bishop-Cash which will improve their chances.

Saturday 2^nd July -

Be Active Western Stars v Kilsyth Cobras

The Stars back up from their Friday night game in the space of just 14 hours while Kilsyth will have enjoyed a fortnight’s rest but the defending champs have work to do after starting the season 1-3.

One of those losses was to the Stars who doubled their score while hitting 17 more field goals. The Cobras were able to get to the free-throw line often though and if Shelley Chaplin and Leanne Del Toso continue to attack, there could be a reversal of that Round 1 scoreline.

 

Sydney Uni Flames v Minecraft Qld Comets

One of these sides could gain some separation from the bottom of the ladder as they each play their second game of the round.

The Flames’ only win of Round 1 came against the Comets when they held them to just 29 points and 25% shooting. Ella Sabljak and Shelley Cronau are sure to not have such unproductive nights again so it will be up to Hannah Dodd and Caitlin Lisle to match their output on the scoreboard.

 

Sydney Metro Blues v Be Active Western Stars

A tough schedule for the Stars sees them play their third game in the space of 18 hours, a run which will severely test their unbeaten start to 2016.

Merritt proved the difference when these sides in Round 1, recording 31 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. However, Cobi Crispin held her own at the other end of the floor with 12 points, nine boards and seven assists and with fatigue a factor in this clash, the Blues will look to push the pace.

 

Kilsyth Cobras v Sydney Uni Flames

While this game will be the second of the day for both clubs, it will be the Flames’ third game for the round which may test their depth as the likes of Zeena Suavaga and Tracey Carruthers see more court time.

Kilsyth escaped with a one-point victory in overtime in the last meeting, utilising a 20-10 advantage in the paint as Del Toso and Jamie Villalon dominated under the rim.

 

Minecraft Qld Comets v Sydney Metro Blues

Already owning a two-game lead in second place on the ladder, the Blues can put some real distance between them and their closest rivals early in the year with a victory over the Comets.

It was a back-and-forth affair when these teams met in the season opener and while Queensland eventually fell by 17 points, they will be buoyed by the lead they did own for a short period in the third quarter.

Sunday 3^rd July -
 

Sydney Metro Blues v Kilsyth Cobras

Currently placed second and third on the ladder respectively, this game will be a chance for Kilsyth to pull themselves back into the top two as Sydney play their final game for the round.

The Blues were too good for them in Round 1 though, hitting 11 more free throws for a 13-point win. The positive to take out of the clash for the Cobras was eight combined offensive rebounds for Chaplin and Del Toso which they must take advantage of on Sunday.

Sydney Uni Flames v Be Active Western Stars

The Flames will be keen to atone for their Round 1 performance when they were trounced by the Stars, 29-74.

Chihiro Kitada scored 25 points in that clash, proving Merritt is not the only player that you need to shut down in order to beat the Stars and with too many weapons at the offensive end, a repeat of that Round 1 scoreline looks possible.

Minecraft Qld Comets v Kilsyth Cobras

The final match of the round will be a test of two teams that enjoy sharing the ball after they combined for 32 assists in their Round 1 meeting.

Amimoto recorded nine of those assists for the Comets, helping Mikaela Smith score 27 points and their side win by 25 points but Mel Adams (six points, five assists) was just as integral to the Cobras’ offence as she opens up scoring opportunities for Chaplin and Del Toso.
