The race for the final two spots in the WNWBL Finals is heating up with just a game separating third from fifth with one round remaining.

Kilsyth Cobras sit in third place despite dropping all four games this weekend by an average of 21.5 points.

Leanne Del Toso paced the side with 15.3 points per game while she went close to a triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists on Sunday against the Sydney Uni Flames.

Alice Hammond was also impressive, averaging a double-double of 14.3 points and 13.3 rebounds but with a total of 38 turnovers more than their opponents across the four clashes, the Cobras need to take better care of the ball if they are to feature in the playoffs.

Two wins in Round 3 was enough for the Flames to move into a top four position as they proved too good for the Minecraft Queensland Comets and Cobras on either side of big losses to the Sydney Metro Blues and Be Active Western Stars.

Annabelle Lindsay starred off the bench with 17 points and 16 rebounds against the Comets while Sarah Stewart added five points to 16 boards and ten assists.

Caitlin Lisle and Tracey Carruthers also enjoyed solid performances across the weekend and that spread of scorers is a positive sign heading into Round 4.

The Comets were able to get past Kilsyth on Saturday night to keep their finals hopes alive but their 3-8 record sets up intriguing battles between them and the Cobras as well as the Flames next round.

Mikaela Smith stood out in Round 3, averaging 13.5 points and 9.3 rebounds while Shelley Cronau helped curb her turnovers to collect 25 points in the win over Kilsyth.

At the top of the ladder, the Be Active Western Stars continue to fly, remaining unbeaten with another four wins this weekend.

Amber Merritt top-scored with an average of 36 points, 12.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists including an astounding 51-point performance against Kilsyth as she shot 24-38 from the field to out-score her opposition.

Chihiro Kitada also impressed, recording 24 points, ten rebounds and five assists per game while Georgia Inglis was superb on Sunday against the Blues with 17 assists.

Sydney Metro are the other team that have secured a finals spot after taking away three wins from Round 3.

A 13-point loss to the Stars on Sunday was their only blemish and creates some doubt about their Championship hopes but the performances of Bridie Kean (23.5 points), Cobi Crispin (18.3 points and 3.5 steals) and Kylie Gauci (13.8 points and 6.8 assists) will give them confidence.

The WNWBL will resume on July 29 for the final round of the regular season. All stats can be found here.
