Break out the boot savers, Jofa face mask and Go The Rat shirt (but don’t bring your Bell Moto III because it wont pass scrutineering…); Classic MXWA is having a Come Try, non-competitive event at their Darkan motocross track, Sunday 19th of April 2015. Classes will include Pre-75, Evolution Mix (comprising Pre-95 125cc/Pre-90 4 Stroke/Evolution (air-cooled, linkage-less suspension, drum brakes)), Pre-85, Pre-90 and Vets (35+) on modern bikes as well as Juniors (only where parent or guardian holds a current family membership of Classic MX WA). Cost to ride is $25.00 for club fee (no charge for juniors) and $25.00 for a one day MA licence (not required if you hold a full MA competition or recreational licence). Sign on is from 7:30am, riders brief at 8:30 riding starts at 9:00am. Camping at the venue the night before is encouraged, however you will need to bring you own food and drinking water. Note no dogs allowed.
For those of you that haven’t been involved in organised motor sport before, your machine and riding gear will need to pass scrutineering. Simply put, your bike will need to be in safe and serviceable condition for motocross and your riding gear must include a compliant helmet, motocross style boots, pants and shirt. For further details check Motorcycling Australia's GCR's which can be found here, page 164 onwards. You don’t have to ride a motocross bike, trail bikes are fine and the track is suitable for this type of machine.
