Sunny skies shone over Winton Raceway for Qualifying and Race One.
The 30 car strong field took to the track late Saturday Morning for the first qualifying session. Not holding back, T.D. went straight to the top end of the order pushing out low 1.24s and consistently improving.
Number 55 soon pitted for fresh tyres, and once back out on the track continuing with the good pace, setting a 1.24.4634 to be in 6th.
'We came back in and stayed in the pits when we saw we were 6th with 4 minutes remaining, thinking our time would keep us in the top 20, which would have got us into the second qualifiying session. Unfortunately we got pushed down the order to 21st, just missing out'.
'The team have completely turned the car around, it feels fantastic to drive and we have some really good speed. Bring on race one'.
Race One:
'I got a great start and made up several positions early on in the piece which is what I aimed to do.'
Teams started pitting early, while Tony stayed out to get some clean air and working his way up the field, with his sights firmly set on Steven Johnson.
Pitting on lap 7 for a blinder stop, Tony was quickly back on the black stuff and ready for business. With the new 'Soft' tyres bolted on, Tony was able to challenge the front runners, passing the likes of Courtney, Richards and Ingall.
Bargs then beached it in the sand at turn three, bringing out the safety car. Once the lights were out, the restart saw Tony manouver his way past Steven Jonhson and Winterbottom to be in 14th.
With Tander and Holdsworth having an off, T.D. avoided the carnage to pass them as well.
Three laps remained and T.D was in the midst of a battle with Bright, soon passing him on the last corner to come onto the straight in 11th where he finished the race.
'I was happy with the race. its the results we have been looking for, and shows our true potential'.
Tomorrows another day with Qualifying and Race 2. The action starts at 10.35am, stay tuned!
