Regional Conference Information

Welcome to the first update and confirmation of speakers for the Basketball in Regional Victoria Conference.

The inaugural Basketball in Regional Victoria Conference is being held in Bendigo on the weekend of the 18th and 19th of June 2016.  This conference is targeted at regional Associations and is free to attend for BV affiliated member Associations (attendees only have to pay for their own accommodation).  The conference will offer Association representatives the opportunity to gain some valuable assistance and resources, whilst also having the chance to network with other Association members from throughout the state at the Conference Dinner on the Saturday night.

Basketball Victoria Country has secured Professor Russell Hoye from Latrobe University at its opening key note speaker of the conference.  The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Development) & Director, La Trobe Sport, La Trobe University; will deliver an address on research conducted regarding the social value of community sport organisations, and in particular – The Social, Health and Community impact of a regional basketball Association.

Following Professor Hoye, in our Guest Forum will be four of the main people who shape basketball in Australia.  You will get to hear from: Nick Honey - Basketball Victoria CEO; Anthony Moore - Basketball Australia CEO; Lisa Hasker - Basketball Australia’s General Manager, Community & Stakeholder Relations and Basketball Australia’s Jan Stirling - recently appointed General Manager of High Performance.  This highly esteemed panel will be available to discuss basketball at all levels in Australia and will give Associations the opportunity to talk about basketball with the key decision makers in our sport.

More information regarding guest presenters and their topics will be released over the coming weeks as they are finalised.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
