Junior State Representatives

Georgie Pedlar, James Rattus & Declan Hortle

The Eastern Hill Basketball Association are well represented in coming weeks 2015 Pacific School Games held in Adelaide.  Local junior standouts Declan Hortle (Onka Piranhas), Georgie Pedlar (German Arms) will be on show with the South Australian 12 and under SSA State teams.  Both were selected following an intensive trial period that started in July this year.  Joining Declan and Georgie is EHBA basketball identity James Rattus (German Arms) who was selected as the team Manager/Assistant coach of the Boys team.

The competition is an annual event that includes junior State teams from every State and Territory in Australia.  This year’s event is a little different with National Teams from India and China also competing in the 12 and under age division.  The competition should be extremely tight with South Australia’s biggest challenge coming from the Victorian and New South Wales teams. The boys will be under pressure from the opening tip, drawing Victoria in the tournament opener.  The opening game for the girls is against China in what should be an exciting and fast paced game.  Asian teams like to play an up-tempo and fast style of game, coupled with a barrage of perimeter shots to stretch opposition teams.  This will be a great test for the SA girls.

EHBA wishes Declan, Georgie and James all the best this coming week.
