This term the nomination fee was used to assist referees in a number of areas

 Providing a referee course for 16 new rookies

 Referee supervision for 50% of games – an increase of 25%

 2 referees on 90% of games – an increase of 15%

 Whistles and referee shirts

 Support for our local referees at representative games

Our referee development is improving more in the short term and we will continue to make improvements
In term 2 and 3 we have the following activities

 3 rookie referee courses

 A referee course to assist with existing referee’s knowledge and application

 Fitness training for referees

 An incentive for senior players to assist with Senior referees

Maitland Basketball recognises that there are many senior players who are suitably qualified to referee. For the winter competition we will be offering an incentive for senior players to assist with refereeing. Not only will referees be paid for each game, but at the end of the week there be a draw for $50 cash.
