AFC Asian Cup Education Program

With the AFC Asian Cup to be held in Australia in 2015, teachers through the Football Federation SA network can now register for resources at www.afcasiancup.com/education.

The resource has been piloted by 23 primary schools across Australia and developed and reviewed in consultation with Victoria, NSW, ACT, Queensland and Tasmania education departments.

As a 21st century teaching and learning program it provides teachers and students in English, Maths, Art and Health and Physical Education with an exciting opportunity to meet the Australian Curriculum's cross curricula priority with Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia.

As one of the biggest sporting events ever to be staged in this country there will be a huge focus on the Asian Cup 2015 in the media and communities nationwide in the second half of 2014.

It presents a unique opportunity for Football Federation SA, schools and teachers associated with it to participate in a cutting edge football and Asia themed school program of real time learning.

Each unit is themed with football and is designed to meet the Australian Curriculum cross curriculum priority with Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia.

The Asian Cup 2015 educational resource:

• Has an Asian-Australian cultural component integrating teaching and learning
• Will be mapped to the Australian Curriculum
• Teaches character building and community values in a sports context
• Is accessible to students across multiple intelligences
• Gives students an opportunity to model their learning to an audience
• Has a football themed component integrated into each unit of work
• Is underpinned by the use of media technology
