2014 African Nations Cup

The 2014 African Nations Cup is being held this coming Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October at Burton Park Football Centre with 12 teams involved in the competition.

The 2013 Cup winners South Sudan will be looking to defend their title against returning sides Burundi, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Ghana and Sierra Leone as well as new entries Zimbabwe, DR Congo, Eritrea, South Africa and Uganda.

Local National Premier and State League players will again be involved in the African Nations Cup representing a variety of countries. Adelaide Blue Eagles Alemayo Kebede, Campbelltown City’s Jake Monaco and Salisbury United’s Harris Vukic will play for Eritrea, Peter Deng from Adelaide Olympic will play for South Sudan while Elvis Kamsoba and James Klappers from Playford Patriots will represent Burundi.

Games kick-off on both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am and continue until 4:00pm. The third and fourth place match, an African women’s match and the Grand Final match will be played on Sunday 26 October at Adelaide Shores Football Centre, West Beach.
