Vale: Alek Cmielewski OAM

Football Federation SA regrets to advise the passing of Hall of Fame member Alek Cmielewski OAM on 2 November 2014.

Alek was inducted in to the Hall of Fame in 2003 under the Roll of Honour as a member for distinguished contribution.

Migrating to Australia in 1949 from Ostrow (WLKP) Poland, Alek contributed to the game of football as a player and administrator. Alek would be most well known for founding the Polonia Adelaide Sports Club (Croydon Kings) in 1950.

Alek was a Life Member of SASF and Polonia SC (Adelaide). Alek officiated as  Secretary of Woodside SC and Polonia SC, club delegate to the SASF, Executive Council Member SASFA and Member of the Executive Management committee SASF. Alek was also a member of many committees including State selection, Soccer News and Hindmarsh Ground committee.

Football Federation SA expresses its condolences to family and friends of Alek.
