Football Federation SA is pleased to announce the four inductees into the 2012 FFSA Hall of Fame are Richie Alagich, Sharon Black, Jim Rossis and Carl Veart.

Alagich, Black and Veart have all been inducted in the Hall of Champions for Outstanding Performance in football while Rossis has been inducted into the Hall of Honour for Outstanding Contribution.

FFSA Hall of Fame Chairman Orazio Di Carlo applauded the contribution made by all four inductees.

“Apart from representing a significant cross section of the Code’s sporting disciplines, Mens and Women’s players, Refereeing and Coaching, this year’s inductees have all made significant contributions at various levels of the sport,” he said.

Alagich has contributed to the game in South Australia as a Player, Coach and Development Officer, and has represented Australia nine times at the U23 level and four times at U20 level, as well as two appearances for South Australia.

He played over 270 games in the National Soccer League with West Adelaide, South Melbourne and Brisbane Strikers and the A-League with Adelaide United where he was crowned both Club Champion and Player’s Player in 2003.

Alagich also played in excess of 155 games in the South Australian Federation competitions and won three Sergio Melta Medals in 2004, 2009 and 2010 with Raiders. He also won the Bob Telfer Medal with Port Adelaide in 1993.

Black has contributed to football in South Australia as a Player and Coach and has represent Australia 62 times including the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup in the USA and the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Black won the Women’s National League Best Player award (Julie Dolan Medal) in 1998 and has been named the SAWSA Player of the Year five times. She also has five SAWSA League Championship medals and three SAWSA Cup medals.

Black also enjoyed a successful spell with Danish side Fortuna Hjorring where she won a Danish League Medal, a Danish Cup medal and UEFA Women’s Cup Runners-Up medal in 2003.

Rossis contributed to football in South Australia as a Player, Match Official, Referee Inspector and Administrator.

He officiated in over 1000 matches including in excess of 150 games in the NSL plus 10 internationals and 11 State Representative fixtures.

Rossis is currently a Referees Inspector and has been associated with football in South Australia for over 56 years.

Veart has contributed to the game in South Australia as a Player and Coach and has represented Australia at a senior level 23 times, 17 times at U23 level and he has played six times for South Australia.

Veart was a member of Australia’s 1992 Spain Olympic Games squad and played over 351 games in the National Soccer League and A-League with Adelaide City and Adelaide United and scored in excess of 90 goals.

He also enjoyed time in England with Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Millwall where he played 124 games and scored 23 goals.

Veart also won two Championship medals with Adelaide City in 1992 and 1994 and a National Cup Winners medal in 1992.
