The GSL has at all times met its commitments and governance obligations to all former GSL Central clubs while they were affiliated with the GSL. It made a genuine offer to the clubs that was mediated by the FFV to provide a way forward in the interest of football in Gippsland. The offer was rejected and the affiliation has now expired. We recognise and accept that some clubs believe that their interests are best served outside the GSL

We understand that all clubs would prefer to be part of a well-structured, resourced and organised league. With this in mind the GSL is offering an opportunity for clubs that want to continue within the certainty and benefits provided by the GSL an opportunity to be part of a “New League”.  

The GSL re-iterates that it is fully committed to offering clubs that were formally part of the Central GSL League an opportunity to be part of the “New League”. It is not essential that all former Central GSL clubs participate, it is important that clubs have a commitment to the future of the game and the GSL will work with as many clubs as would be interested in being involved.

The many benefits of being part of a competition under the banner of the GSL were outlined in the affiliation letter dated Friday February 5^th some of which are explained further below.

• Full competition Senior men and women, Juniors all age groups and mini-roos

This would include season of reasonable length and a full finals competition for seniors and juniors

• Battle of Britain and other cup participation

The GSL is the only organisation that has the right to organise a Battle of Britain cup competition and this has been confirmed by the FFV

• Referees co-ordinator and scheduling

FFV can only schedule referees to matches that are entered on the FFV system and this involves entering each match individually

• Player and club development support

The GSL has in place structures to provide help and support for clubs and individual players to undergo development programs

• International Clearance support

This is an unresolved issue for many clubs and players, there were approximately 100 playing in the GSL in 2015. This needs to be addressed before players can be registered for any 2016 competition.

• Viable competition with a minimum of 5 teams
• Free FFA Community Coaching Courses for all affiliated clubs

What better way to attract players to your club, by having accredited coaches. Studies show that this is one of the key perks that parents look for when looking at sporting clubs for their children.

As well as the benefits stated in the letter dated Friday February 5^th we add the following:

• Established Tribunal Process
• Established Dispute Resolution Process
• Full and strong administration support to enter all data on the required central system
• Full and strong administration support to resolve issues related to International Transfers
• Strong working relationship with Latrobe, East Gippsland & Baw Baw Shires

The GSL believes that it is best placed to develop and grow the game of Football in the Gippsland region and as such would view the “New League” is a development opportunity for the game and as such will be structuring affiliation fees and registrations to support this.

Previous GSL affiliations and fees will be substantially reduced to enable the development of the “New League” under the GSL banner. Under the structure of the “New League” the following fees would apply.

• Affiliation Fee $880 (includes GST)
• Senior Registration $66.00 (includes GST)
• Junior registration $30.50 (includes GST)
• Female team rebate, $250 to the clubs for each all-female team that plays to the end of the season (excluding small sided football)
• Mini-roos $5.00 (includes GST)

The GSL is the only organization that can provide all the support and structures that will enable the game to grow and develop in Gippsland.
