WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Burdekin Basketball are fundraising to construct a New Multi-purpose Outdoor Stadium where the existing two outdoor courts now stand.

We are applying for state funding through the Get Playing Plus program however for every $2 contributed by the grant, we must provide a $1

The current outdoor bitumen courts, built in the 1960s, have come to the end of their useful lives having borne the brunt of many cyclones and generations of players.  Despite ongoing maintenance, foundation instability continues to undermine the player surface resulting in extensive cracking that is making the courts unusable.

Two new courts line marked for netball, volleyball, futsal and basketball will be built with a roof over the top. The new facility will have basketball backboards on a winch system and netball and volleyball posts will be removable. The intention is to create a space that can be utilised for sporting and social activities with all sporting infrastructure removable to provide a large open under-cover area for the community. This facility will provide an all-weather option not currently available to the Burdekin.

We need our members and our facility users to help get the community behind the project.

We have partnered with the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) to enable the community to make tax deductible donations and for those who want to sponsor the project or have their contributions acknowledge, Steve Plaza is the man to see, telephone 0418 198 963.

Tax Deductible donations can be made via our fundraising page on the ASF website

The Australian Sports Foundation Ltd (ASF) (ABN 27 008 613 858) was established by the Australian Government to raise funds through public and corporate donations for the development of sport in Australia. The ASF’s listing in the Income Tax Assessment Act (1997) (div 30,S 30-90) means donations to us of $2 or more are tax deductible. Your donation is made to the ASF and you will nominate us as your preferred beneficiary.

Below are the preliminary drawings for the new Multi-purpose Outdoor Stadium. Note the courts will include line marking for netball, volleyball, futasl and basketball.

Please share.
