 RE: Invitation to trial for Country State Programs 2014 – Expressions of Interest (EOI)

 Due to the discontinuation of VCL in the 2013 season, FFV would like advise of the process for State team selection for the 2014 season for Country based players.

 Players are being asked to nominate themselves to trial if they believe they have the skill, ability and desire to play at State level. Though trial nominations are open to all players who meet the below criteria, it must be advised that State Programs are geared towards the most technically advanced players. We do encourage all players who are keen to represent their State in 2014 to submit their details.

 Who is eligible?

 State Team Players eligible

13 Country Boys Players BORN in 2001 or 2002

13 Country Girls Players BORN in 2001 or 2002

14 Country Boys Players BORN in 2000

 ***Please feel free to pass this onto any player who fits the criteria above, who may not have received this email directly***

 We are also looking for resilient players who can commit to up to 3 coach contacts a week. Those players must have the drive, commitment and ability to reach the highest levels of the game. State country squads will train together once every three weeks in Melbourne and with either their local NPLV club or regional academy, depending on which country teams have received and accepted an NPLV licence, up to 2 extra sessions a week.

 How will it work?

 Complete the EOI form found here. Please make sure all your details are correct before submitting. The nomination window will close at 2pm on Wednesday 19^th February 2014. Successful players will receive an invite to the two below trial dates*.

 Phase 1

Taking place over two dates on Saturday 22^nd February and Saturday 15^th March at the State Football Centre, Darebin International Sports Centre (DISC). Players are required to attend both dates so please keep these dates free.

 Phase 2 – SDP squads selected

Further training dates for the State Development Program (SDP) squad, for 2014 of approximately 20-24 players per age group, will be released in due course. Some additional players may be required to attend at the coaches discretion.

Sixteen players will be selected from these State Development Program (SDP) squads to represent Victoria at National Championships during 2014.

 * Please note: FFV reserves the right to limit the numbers invited to trial.

 What are the selectors looking for at trials?

 Attributes that the selection panel will look for (but not limited to):

-- Running with the ball

-- Striking the ball

-- First touch

-- 1 v 1 (attack and defence)

 Other prerequisites for a talented player:

-- Coordination and speed

-- Game ‘cleverness’ : making the right decisions ‘intuitively’

-- Eagerness to learn and be coachable

-- Perseverance

 Once again please only nominate yourself if you believe you have the skill, ability and desire to play at state level and can commit to the time requirements of the programs on offer.
