2016 Term 3: Little Bears League

Team Nominations for Term 3 are now open soon!

Little Bears League (LBL) is an after school development competition operated by NSBA and is the second step along our development pathway to basketball fun & superstardom! The competition emphasises learning key fundamental skills of basketball and then applying them in a game situation, and is guaranteed to be the most fun and enjoyable way to learn the game!!

The program will be overseen by NSBA Development Officer Alek Horenko, who will set the program curriculum and instruct the coaches.

Each session consists of:

  • 10 Minute Training session with each team focusing on key fundamental skills of basketball
  • 4 x 8 min quarter game

Each team has one coach dedicated to their team, as well as a 'Head Coach' who both referees the game and offers on court coaching.

The competition will run on the following days:

  • Monday – Years 3 & 4 - Commencing May 2nd
  • Wednesday – Years 1 & 2 - Commencing May 4th
  • Thursday – Years 1 & 2 - Commencing May 5th

Competition game times:

  • 4:00 to 4:45
  • 4:45 to 5:30

NUMBER OF TEAMS IN EACH “LEAGUE”

A maximum of 10 teams per league will be accepted. This is to ensure all teams and players get maximum value and game time out of the program. It is also to ensure we can provide the level of coaching required and also a suitable coach to player ratio.
