Sharks Kick-Off Pre-Season With Draw

Palm Beach SC

Words: Michael Flynn

Palm Beach SC drew 1-1 with community club Logan Lightning on Friday night as the Sharks prepare to defend their 2014 PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland silverware.

Daniel Grzic opened the scoring on the hour mark for the Sharks in the pre-season fixture at Chris Green Park in Beenleigh.

However, Lightning - who finished fifth in the third tier Brisbane Premier League in 2014 - levelled terms in the final ten minutes through Michael Adarawah.

In addition to Grzic, Sharks fielded several players already confirmed for their 2015 campaign including captain Justyn McKay, defender Eoghan Murphy and goalkeeper Ryan Meskell.

On the bayside, Redlands United were scheduled to play their first pre-season fixture against nearby community club Capalaba Bulldogs on Saturday.

The match was postponed after Bulldogs' John Fredericks Park home ground failed to recover in time from heavy rainfalls throughout the week.

Bulldogs, who finished sixth in last season's Brisbane Premier League competition, are scheduled to host PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland club Western Pride next Saturday in the Ipswich-based side's first pre-season fixture.
