Olympic FC captain Danny Byrne is already looking to the future after becoming the first player to reach 50 PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland appearances.

Byrne has notched 31 goals across the competition’s first two seasons and brought up the milestone in Olympic’s season-opening loss away to Moreton Bay United.

Despite the defeat, the attacker is positive about the year ahead on an individual note and for his side.

“Obviously I’d have liked the 50th to be a win but on a personal level it’s a good achievement,” Byrne said.

“The squad we have this year makes me want to play more, when I look around at the players we have.

“The way I’m feeling at the moment and the way I’m playing I do feel I’m going to play more games.”

Byrne, who was born in Liverpool, led Olympic to a drought-breaking double in 2013 after originally joining in 2006.

The 31-year-old isn’t interested in slowing down ahead of Saturday night’s trip to Palm Beach SC in a rematch of last year’s Grand Final.

“I still feel like I don’t want to miss any games so reaching that milestone, I believe, is to be expected,” he said.

“Keeping myself fit and making myself available as much as I can makes me feel happy.”

Having attained his AFC B Licence, Byrne is already combining his playing duties with expanding coaching responsibilities.

The senior skipper is in charge of Olympic’s U15 Boys and is positive about the stars developing through the elite player pathway.

“There’s a lot of youngsters coming through, a lot of good talent is starting to emerge at PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs,” Byrne said.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have a good career under some good coaches and anything I can give back to juniors I’m happy to do so.”

Olympic's visit to Sharks at Mallawa Complex kicks off at 5.00pm on Saturday.
