In a major recruitment coup, Gold Coast City have confirmed the return of dynamic winger Daniel Dragicevic for the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland 2016 season.

The 27-year-old was standout performer for Palm Beach SC in the club’s double-winning 2014 campaign before switching to PlayStation 4 NPL New South Wales powerhouse Sydney United 58 last season.

Dragicevic made 14 league appearances for United 58 in 2015 and was a member of the team that won Football New South Wales’ Waratah Cup knock-out tournament.

He said he is looking forward to the chance to rebuild his on-field partnerships with his former teammates and turn the newly branded Gold Coast City into a PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland force.

“I enjoyed my time at Sydney and it was a real privilege to play for that club because I supported them as a kid in the old NSL,” he explained.

“But I missed the Gold Coast and the lifestyle here and then, when I heard about Gold Coast City forming, I thought it was the right time to move back and be part of this big change for Gold Coast football.”

He added that he is confident Gold Coast City will prove just as strong in 2016 as the Sharks team he enjoyed so much success with previously.

“I wouldn’t have come back if the club didn’t make their intentions clear that they wanted the same success,” Dragicevic explained.

“I waited to see some of the signings and when I found out who was on board it was a no-brainer – I think we can definitely replicate that success from 2014.”

Despite building a reputation as a winger in PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland, Dragicevic played primarily at right fullback while at United 58.

However, Gold Coast City coach Grae Piddick said he will be looking to again utilise Dragicevic’s pace and delivery in a more attacking role next season.

“He’s going to be crucial for us. He’s a very attacking winger with the capability to play either side or through the middle,” he explained

“He has plenty of experience and that real winning mentality. We’re expecting big things from him and expecting our younger wingers to grow and learn from him as well,” Piddick concluded.

Dragicevic is the third announced signing for Gold Coast City, with further announcements expected in coming days.
