March Madness- Day 13 Highlights

Kolonia, Pohnpei- Last night at the Pohnpei Campus Gymnasium saw a to-or-die match between COM Sharks and the SDA Dolphins. In a match that will determine which club will advance to the quarter-finals which will kick-off on Wednesday March 28, 2012, both teams started out strong especially on the Dolphins side which started out with a 10-0 run early in the first period. Dolphins would control the game all the way to the late third period. At the end of the first half, Dolphins were up by 20 plus points and the Sharks would then make a run and cut the lead to single digit to a 6-point margin and that's the closest they come to the Dolphins. Dolphins secured a spot in the quarter-finals with a 74-60 score. Oshie (#5) lead all Dolphins scorer with 23 pts, Anthony Brackett (#24) with 19 pts, Carlos (#22) 15 pts, and Cain (#11) contributing to the Dolphins with 11 pts. Rinson (#22) lead the Sharks with 15 pts, Tom Mawi (#8) with 12 pts, and Erick (#6) and Alvinus (#25) each with 10 pts apiece.

In the second match of the evening saw Old School go against the Strippling Warriors. In an outstanding display and fast break clinic plays and force turn-overs by the Strippling Warriors, all starting five players including the sixth man scored in double digit. Strippling Warriors out-scored Old School by a 46 point margin (111-65). Gifford Nena (#4) lead the Warriors with 23 pts, Troy Yaingeluo (#14) with 22 pts, Clinton Etse (#12) 17 pts, Brandel (#8) contributing 14 pts, and Santos Saimon (#10) and Glenn Torres (#21) with 12 pts apiece. Leading the Old School side are Fransisco Simram (#5) with 16 pts, Loatis Seneres (#13) 15 pts, Ferny Perman (#7) contributing 14 pts, and Aurelio Joab (#12) with 8 pts.
