Taito off to basketball youth camp

YOUNG basketball rep Grace Taito will be part of the Singapore Youth Camp to be held next month.

Taito and badmintons' Norman Bentley will be Fiji's representatives at the six-day camp.

Taito is a 15-year-old Form Five student at the Latter Day Saints Church College in Tamavua and she will have the unique experience and opportunity to learn other countries sporting and traditional cultures, make life-long friends and learn the principles and values of the Olympics.

Taito was part of the National Under-20 women's team, which won bronze in the recent 2008 FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament in Guam.

At 15, Taito opted to jump two age groups, using her international experience to guide her school to winning the U19 girls title in the Twisties-sponsored 2009 National Secondary Schools Championships in August. Taito plays in the Raiwaqa Basketball Players League for the newly-formed talented team X-Wounds.

She has been described as a young and promising basketball player.

Basketball Fiji believes the camp will add value to Taito's leadership qualities and provide her with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experience that will not only add value to her life but also to the players and peers around her.
