Basketball big plans for 2010

Basketball Fiji knocks into 2010 with an action packed calendar of events. Besides tournaments and competitions planned, the basketball body has also included media workshops with high hopes it will improve communication with the media as well increase awareness of the sport in the country.

Junior camps and coaching clinics are also planned for the new season with the first scheduled for January 12-13.
The postponed 2009 Christmas Club Championships will be on January 14-16 which will be followed by the Nationals to be held in Suva on January 18.

Schools competition continues in the three major cities in Suva, Nadi and Lautoka - the primary school competition to kicks off on January 12 and ends on January 23 whilst the secondary schools 10-week long league will begin on June 11.

The Business-House final which was postponed due to Cyclone Mick last month, will be held on January 8.

Meanwhile, the dates of the National Specials Schools U16 Championships which is held three times a year has not been finalized.

BF development officer Lai Puamau said this would be penciled into the calendar once the dates are confirmed. The 2010 calendar of events ends with the National Christmas Club Championship on December 11-20 in Suva.
