BASKETBALL Fiji received a massive boost from Foster's Group Fiji Limited prior to the Fiji Taki Easter Basketball Championship next month.

Sponsorship helps basketball

For the second year in a row, Foster's decided to be in partnership with Basketball Fiji to sponsor the postponed tournament which was initially scheduled during the Easter weekend.

Yesterday Foster's marketing manager Joe Rodan Senior manager presented a $7000 cheque to assist the organisers for the country's highly fancied basketball tournament.

Basketball Fiji president Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua said they appreciated the kind sponsorship of Foster's Group.

"On behalf of Basketball Fiji we want to thank you sincerely for the kind contribution to support basketball," he said.

"We have seen the dividends of your kind sponsorship having some of our players getting opportunities to play overseas."

"We thank you for your kindness in always considering minor sports like basketball," Naivalurua said.

Rodan said they were proud to build the nation through sports.

"We are happy to be associated with sports again. This is one way of moving the nation forward, sports is one of the way of getting our nation back into track."

Rodan is keeping his fingers crossed the weather will be fine when the tournament takes place.
