International U19 Boys loses warm up games

Over the last month the International U19 boys team have been having warm up games against the National Womens Development Team and a Suva Men's Basketball Team at International School Gym at 5pm every mondays and wednesdays. International has been ranked the number 1 team leading into the National Secondary Schools Basketball Championships scheduled on the 22nd- 27th August, 2009 at the Vodafone Arena and Eds court, Raiwaqa.

The International U19 boys team coached by Jeff Colata have been the most impressive team in the U19 grade however they should be facing stiff competition from traditional power house schools Yat Sen, Latter Day Saints and Natabua from Lautoka.

In their warm up games I.S.S has recorded wins over the National Development Women's Basketball team beating them on three occasions and recording wins against a National Development U20 team.

However they were not able to repeat the same success against the Jese Sikivous Freshman team losing in both matches 48-42 and 52-48 in the second game. Last night they played against a much pysical and stronger Suva Basketball team which was led by Marques Whippy and assisted by National U20 captains Jese Sikivou and Martin Leighbrights. The Suva Basketball Team taught the young and promising International U19 outfit a few lessons on the game. The Suva team out rebounded and out muscled the younger opponent to a 86-32 dunk infested basketball game.

We wish all partcipating teams in the upcoming National Secondary Schools Championships all the very best in the competition
