The National University Basketball Games which was organized by the FIT committee members and assisted by the Raiwaqa Basketball Players Association came to an end today 16th October. The event had 5 prominent tertiary universities participating in the yearly event. The participating insititutions consisted of Fiji Insititution of Technowlegy (FIT), University of the South Pacific, Fiji School of Medicine and Pacific Regional School. In the men's event 6 teams played a round robin match with the top two teams playing for the gold medal and the title while the 3rd and 4th finishes playing off for the bronze medal. In the men's final USP 1 was able to make up for their early round lose to FIT defeating them 45 -43 to be crowned the 2009 National University Men's Champion. In the bronze medal playoff FSM walked away with the bronze medal. In the women's division USP also took out the women's title defeating tournament host FIT in the women's finals.
