Fiji Boys display Fijian Flair

Fiji Mens team after a dissapointing loss to New Zealand (124-45) in the opening game on Sunday, came back strong in the 3rd quater to beat arch rival NewCaledonia in a close contested match on Monday evening. Led by Max Hussein who top scored for the team with 24 points, the boys fought tooth and nail to beat New Caledonia 87-76. After trailing in the first half of the game, the boys pulled up their socks and displayed the Fijian style of running basketball, much to the delight of the Fijian crowd that turned up in numbers to watch the games.

There has been a lot of support from the Fijian community here in Auckland. Led by Paul and Olive Whippy, they have been turning up in numbers to cheer our Fijian warriors on. The boys are focused on achieving their goal of being in the top 4 teams after the tournament and after last nights win, boosted their moral further. Apart from the cold we have been experiencing, there has been no major injury occured and the boys are bonding well here in Waitakare. Fiji boys will play Papua New Guinea at 4pm today (Tuesday) where we will know our standing going on to the next round. If we beat PNG today then we will advance in to the second round of competition as runners up, and will play the 3rd team in pool A, which will be either Tahiti or American Samoa.
